I did not go with Dr Purohit to fix the fistula because 1) he could not schedule me until January, but mainly 2) because he was excessively pessimistic about the possible surgical outcomes (he said "I'm not sure how to fix it without ruining your vagina," and suggested having a whole new vagina made by sigmoid colon method). Honestly, this was an entirely avoidable emotional rollercoaster, and if you have similar issues I would suggest going to a urogynecological surgeon first over a urological surgeon who also does vaginoplasties."

I was in severe pain for the next week. I told this to the medical team but they couldn't have responded worse... I went in to get seen and check if there's an infection. There wasn't, I was just in pain because I had an intense surgery. The nurse coordinator there, Amy, initially said I can't be in pain. I continuously stated that I am definitely in severe pain. She then said that I can't be in that much pain, and when I said I am, she said that the pain must be from something else and can't be from surgery... The entire time they saw me I was in severe pain and completely unable to sit down at all. Sarah, the nurse practitioner there, made it seem like I was drug seeking and "refusing" to cooperate and essentially wrote the visit notes that way. She said they can only treat post op pain, not chronic pain (I literally just had surgery that week!!!)... He then went on a long speech about how he had a patient like me before and how his supervisor is supportive of him not operating on anyone he doesn't want to, etc. That was the last I had talked to him... He apparently has a habit of doing this. Since this happened to me, I've talked to/heard of at least 5 other people who were treated like this or dropped as patients by Nikolavsky... I would never recommend him to anyone. I regret seeing him and it permanently traumatized me. For months it was difficult to feel any sort of sensation in my penis because I was terrified it would turn into severe pain."

He gives tramadol, Tylenol, and celebrex for pain by default. No stringer opioids. Even if you think you'd find that to be enough for pain, I strongly, strongly, STRONGLY recommend you tell Nikolavsky that you don't do well with pain at your consult. That way, the office will make an appointment with their pain management clinic (which is like 15 to 20 minutes drive from the hospital) and THEY'LL have to give you/clear you for pain meds. Context: I had no fucking clue they'd do this and was left suffering, I was completely unable to do anything but cry and scream for a week and Nikolavsky's team did nothing about it but minimize my pain and gaslight me ... I have a medication listed in my allergies and his team came in while I was in the hospital and less than 24 hours post op to try and pressure me into taking that medication. During my post op visit, he came in with a resident and when I asked who he was and why he was there, the way he answered made it seem like I wasn't allowed to say no to him being there. "

Dr Rumer and her team did absolutely nothing to help me and I was left alone to suffer for over a year. Luckily, I discovered Dr. Stiller in 2023 and he literally saved me life. Before I went to Dr. Stiller my vaginal stenosis caused my vagina to close up. I only had 2 inches of depth. After Dr. Stiller worked his magic on me, my vagina is now over 8 inches deep & self lubricates..."

I dont have any walls to the first bit of my vaginal canal but she assured me that it is a fully functional vagina... At the end of the day: keep dilating and stay away from Rumer.
- Update on wound dehiscence. (Surgeon Dr. Kathy Rumer) by Babysoots in 2024 - I've been using promogram as instructed by Dr. Rumer. I thought I did my research checked out surgeons closer to me (I'm in the north east) and I found her on a website called trans healthcare.org I am very scared but I havent missed a dilation session. I just have no clue what to do right now.
- Suggestions for revision Dr by yaitzme in 2023 - "The first two photos indicate my initial result from my very misguided procedure with Kathy Rumer in 2015. The first image shows how it was normally and the second when aroused. There was significant erectile tissue all around the vulva and the urethra was very high and directed forward instead of down. The following four images show what my vulva looks like now after my revision surgery in 2016 with Dr Marci Bowers. She helped a great deal with moving the urethra and resolving most of my urinary issues. Unfortunately even though she also removed a great deal of erectile tissue, there still seems to be a good amount left especially on the lower part of my labia minora on either side. Additionally my clitorus is too high for being able to have friction during penetrative intercourse. Dr. Bowers advised she could not correct this at the time of my revision surgery and I received similar feedback from Dr. Bluebond-Langner at a consultation last summer. Dr. Bluebond Langber also refused to take me on as a patient to correct the other issues as well."
- Can whatever this mess is be fixed? by transythrowaway in 2023 - "I had the original surgery with Dr. Rumer and it used to be even worse. The pink bit in the middle is far too big. I had my revision with Dr. Rumer and asked for it removed, she went "yeah no problem, it's super easy", and it's still there. After recovering from my rectovaginal fistula from the revision, I went to Dr. Meltzer to get opened back up, asked for it to be removed again, and he said "yeah no problem, it's super easy", and there was no change. I don't know if he forgot or what but I just hate it so much and it makes me so dysphoric. I also have basically zero sensation and haven't had any feeling since my original surgery in 2018. I just want this whole ordeal to be over and to feel normal."
- Do surgeons who have only done a revision for you still do free revisions? by transythrowaway in 2022 - "I had my original surgery with Dr. Rumer and had a really bad result. Lost depth, recessed clitoris, and had so much erectile tissue left over around the urethra that it would look prolapsed when I was aroused. I was on Kaiser at the time and they told me she was my only option so I went back to have it fixed and some but not all of the erectile tissue was removed but I got a fistula so I lost even more depth."
- Has anyone ever regained sexual functionality after botched SRS by transythrowaway in 2023 - "I had SRS with Dr. Rumer in January; she fucked up and left too much erectile tissue around the urethra, and I lost depth despite dilating exactly according to the schedule, and I have almost zero clitoral sensitivity. I went back to her, because I had to (thanks Kaiser), for a revision in July; and she fucked up again, fixed none of the issues, and gave me a rectovaginal fistula and tore inch long holes in the pelvic floor on either side of the inner labia. I had a third surgery last Wednesday with a colorectal surgeon to fix the fistula; obviously I haven't been dilating so I lost depth again. I initially had okay-ish sensitivity but I'm back to almost none. Maybe it's just that the whole area swells so much, I basically still get erections, just with the inner labia pushing outwards, but ... I'm extremely pessimistic about my ability to ever have satisfying sex ever again."

Most of the sores along the stitch lines are healing/fading into scars, although about a week ago there've been some odd lumps popping up near her clit, one of which looks just like a skin tag, the other...It's about a third the size of her clit, and a sort of bruised purple... My issue is, this surgeon is a f'ing FLAKE. He was scatterbrained with the pre-op and post-op care, forgot a lot of stuff, and didn't really give specific instructions on dilation, cleaning, healing, etc. Not only that, but the couple of times I've asked my wife to give his office a call, they'll often say he'll call at the end of the day, only for him to call back a week or more later. And when he does call, his answer defaults to "It's probably fine, these things happen".""
