Hey! I think we may have been recovering at the same time in the same ward. I was the brunette that would stop by when visiting my friend in the corner suite.

Oh hey! I think maybe so! (Just saw your FFS pics) I was the one doing a ton of laps. Floor 10?

The first consultation didn't take long. A lot of my hold-up had to do with insurance. I think it took about 4 months to get my information in order and approved, and I scheduled my surgery for July in February. So, about 9-10 months in total from first outreach to surgery date.

Sweet. Thank you very much. I plan on having the shallow depth bottom surgery. Yea I've had to send in my letters 3 times so far. I haven't even gotten the consultation yet

You're welcome! Best of luck. Dr Ley is amazing and has gone through the procedure herself. I can't say enough good things.

Try to be patient, but don't be afraid to follow up with her staff / the Gender Confirmation Center. They're good people, but they get busy 🙂

I'm trying so hard to get bottom surgery but I don't know where to start.

I would start by talking to the doctor's office you're thinking of going to. Research some results so you have a bit of an idea of what you want, but even the Gender Confirmation Center (San Francisco) was able to talk me through everything, from what's needed from all the medical staff, to options, potential costs and timelines. I probably started the process about 9-12 months ago with just a phone call and a consultation.

Don't feel limited by location either. I went to the closest place to me, but there were even people from the east coast I met while recovering.

I live in South Carolina so... there is no way to help

I'm sorry to hear that. I can imagine that's a rough place to try and be yourself 💜

There's no deadline on life. I wasn't even sure I was going to even get surgery until a little before I started the process. Heck, I didn't even know I was trans until the end of 2016. I just took things one step at a time.

Figure things out, and in time, it'll happen if you want it to. Keep your chin up, and best of luck to you, girlie 💕 you have a worldwide community who can help and root for you

Would you say recovery is easier than full depth?

I'm guessing yes. I've heard that there are fewer chances for complications and that it can be less trauma on the body to recover from all at once.
