You should not go back to that surgeon. You should also name them for others who may go there. I am sorry you are dealing with this but you should look into a revision as well as for your own safety

This!!!!!!!

I don’t know why people protect surgeons who do stuff weird.

And my understanding is there are surgeons who can fix things, thank God

Lawsuits. They’re not “protecting” their surgeons (usually), they’re protecting themselves from a slanderous legal case

Uuuuugh. How horrible. By rights they then have another lawsuit they should easily win except…

Sigh

It is horrible but it happens. That’s why lots of girls don’t speak up about who exactly did what to them on here. Some doctors have a rep for it

The Surgeon and Technique used would be helpful. ...From what you described about arousal and it pushing and causing pain, it sounds like the erectile structures were not removed? I think we need more info. I hope you manage to get it sorted out.

I'm afraid a touch of naming and shaming is necessary in this case, nobody deserves a half job.

On the plus side, you've healed ok and it's not too late for a better surgeon to revise that and turn it around.

My surgeon was Dr Whitehead from restore medical center. Procedure was Penile Inversion

You mean Dr. John L. Whitehead, right?

Yikes, their whole website is sleezy. "BEFORE AND AFTER PHOTOS – INDIVIDUAL RESULTS MAY VARY. SOME IMAGES MAY BE MODELS." it's always been a red flag to me when I see overly photoshopped websites of rockstar style surgeons without access to real hospital surgical theaters. Trying to keep all that money in house, probably. OP: if you read this, know that there are a lot of very capable surgeons that can fix this. I'd personally be seeing out a **reconstructive urologist** that *also* has done multiple vaginoplasies.

Definitely find a different surgeon for revision. He's in the wiki here and going by the reviews (and your photos) he's not a good surgeon.

https://old.reddit.com/r/TransSurgeriesWiki/wiki/srs/usa-south#wiki_john_l._whitehead

You MUST use a web browser to view that. DO NOT use a reddit app, or you won't see most of it.

Keep dilating and try to maintain depth, even if you have to use small diameter dilator. If you lose depth this early you may need more extensive surgery to get it back.

Also, make sure you use this sub and the wiki when choosing your next surgeon. Don't trust surgeons without extensive independent proof that they are good.

I think you should choose a different surgeon to fix this.

Would you mind naming your surgeon?

Please read the comments. It’s named several times already.

Please note that the user above you posted their message 12 hours ago, at which point the surgeon was not named. Please read carefully.

Please consider naming your surgeon. Then, if others have experienced similar, you may find someone willing to come forward with their experience of finding a resolution. As is, many people stand to be hurt by covering for the clinic and I know you don't want that.

Let us know what comes of the follow up.

Like the others have said, while I would talk to my original surgeon at this point, I'd definitely go to someone entirely else for a revision.

I am so sorry you feel you shouldn’t have had surgery. That is a terrible feeling to wait so long and the outcome not meet your expectation. It is way easier said then done, but this can be fixed. Yes it will require another large amount of energy and healing, but you’ve already done so much you will get through this sis

I think the big thing for me too is that I work as a stunt performer, and I just started feeling like I'm physically capable again and I HATE being unable to move around

I know it'll be worth it, I'm just dredding the recovery process again.

Do not go back to the same surgeon for a revision. And I’m sorry to say you do need a revision. On the hopeful side, there seems to be a lot to work with and a different surgeon can almost certainly correct the issues you are facing so please don’t give up. I myself had almost a total redo of mine. Good luck!

This is highly unusual. Looks like the doctor only did half the job. The erectile tissue looks inverted but not removed, and the placement of the clit or whatever bump is at the top is…off.

I don’t mean to psyche you out though OP. A quick revision and a few months and you’re all set. Thankfully you still been trying to dilate and the base kit is still there; they just need to touch up your insides and moved some stuff around.

What you have is a partial prolapse, it’s a somewhat rare complication after SRS surgery, but it is a known complication. It’s actually much more common in cis women after hysterectomy. The cause is the same in both cases though. It’s caused by weakened pelvic floor muscles and ligaments which is what holds the vagina in place inside your body. It will definitely require surgical revision to place additional sutures to anchor the vaginal canal to the perirectal fascia. It is not necessarily indicative of a botched surgery, everyone’s body heals differently and complication occur.

I can even kiss my husband for too long because when I get horny it feels like it's pushing out of my body and hurts.

This suggests erectile tissue.

2
Sun Oct 8 14:51:41 2023 UTC

It’s possible that there is still some erectile tissue that is contributing to the problem… if the pelvic floor muscles and ligaments are weak already, then you get aroused and the erectile tissue becomes engorged with blood, it would put additional stress on the already weakened connective tissue and could cause more pain. Unlike my first response, this is just my train of thought as a nurse reasoning through the connection between arousal and worsening of the condition. It is not meant to be a definitive answer, nor is it a substitute for a physical examination by a physician. This is a best guess. Definitely follow up with your surgeon, or a different one if you feel the need to change doctors.

Please don’t freak out. You need to contact Marci Bowers and San Francisco and have her fix this. I’m so very sorry that you had this outcome but you need to have the best of the best to fix it. I think Marci Bowers may be one of the best in the business, and, she may be able to help you. Whatever you do, DO NOT go back to the surgeon who did this.

Thank you for that link! I was thinking she’s the one who’s actually trans herself but I couldn’t remember. That’s super disappointing.

I get the impression she’s not as horrible as some? But yikes she’s actually a transphobe?

She is trans. I don’t know what happens to these people, but there’s a few high profile trans people who go off the rails. Caitlin Jenner and Buck Angel spring to mind.

I think you should wait and go to Min Jun. And also get a lawyer and sue the fucking surgeon omg. I was looking at this guy and so many of his results look botched omg. From what I think is right, You should wait for Min Jun as he is extremely skilled in aesthetics + he has done good results even for intersex people, so he should do you justice.

Absolutely do not fucking go back to this surgeon. Just ditch that mofo and wait for Dr Min Jun PPT or try for Dr Bank (both seem to do good reconstruction under hard circumstances)
