If there is that much frank red blood coming from your urethra you need antibiotics stat. Please go to urgent care or emergency and do a urine dip. This could be a UTI that has reached your kidneys.

It's that bad? It was like this this only time some hours ago. Peeing sensation has been there for like two days. Subsequent visits to the toilet have not had this bloody outcome except for the most recent one in which there was a little blood again. I'll be heading to a clinic in the morning then.

It sounds like a UTI that has reached your kidneys. It is bad. They can kill people who are susceptible to them (generally older people). It’s a common cause of sepsis.

This is recurring for me- has been since I was young- this infection can have you unable to walk in a matter of hours- try and hydrate AS MUCH AS POSSIBLE. Go see the emergency and tell them you have abdo pain and blood when urinating. They should put you on iv antibiotics and give u fluids then send you home with antibiotics.

Alternatively- I treat utis with Hiprex- if you have this where you’re from- when you get the first sensation of burning when urinating- I pop two of these and I’m good to go.

GOOD LUCK ❤️

I don't have any pain or burning sensation (just peeing sensation). Maybe it's something different?

You might just have a wound then!!!! That’s so much less stressful!!!! Good luck getting it sorted!!!

Come to think of it (and now that it hurts again in a similar fashion) I did struggle with abdominal pain yesterday, brushed it off as farts. Oops.

it could be something different, yes.

i am afab and used to be really prone to uti's. i never had burning or stinging or pain. but i constantly needed to pee, felt like i was never done, and had discomfort while actively urinating. i think there was only an occasion or two with blood, and it was from inflammation, not my kidneys.

either way, see a doc !

i'm glad you got it sorted and it was something fairly easily solvable !

Second this. Just make sure they send a urine culture. There’s a rise in bacteria antibiotic resistance.

If you go to urgent care or hospital or see a doctor, just make sure they check a urine culture.

Definitely seek medical attention. Let your surgeon know. And maybe just visit an ER or urgent care. You can never be too safe. Maybe look for a obgyn near you that take your insurance if you have it. And visit frequently

Wouldn't a urologist be better than gyno if it's a UTI?

right now its urgent to get antibiotics, you wanna get this taken care of, an er can do that with a urine test

A GP can treat this- you don’t need a specialist.

Oh the health system doesn't work like that here. I can just book a consult with a urologist without seeing another doctor first. ER will do tho.

Nurse here. Just go to an ER or an urgent care. Tell them you have urinary frequency and blood in urine. They'll order a urinalysis (likely a urine culture that takes a few days) and they'll have that test back within hours. If it's an infection you'll be sent on your way with antibiotics.

Azo is a pill with cranberry in it to help clean out your kidneys. Pick them up at any grocery store.

That did come to mind but I don't think I have any granulation. Dilation is painless and doesn't make me bleed at all, fortunately. Haven't bled at all after like the first month. Hope you're right tho! Omw to see a doctor rn

I hope you got this treated. A UTI this bad is a medical emergency. I had one just like it and the ER doc said if I'd wanted 6 more hours he would've admitted me. Drug resistant strain of e-coli took a month to get rid of it. The industrial strength antibiotics were almost as bad as the UTI. These things are serious business.

Definitely sounds and looks like a pretty nasty uti and sounds like the infection might be all the way up in your bladder and not in the urethra. (Not a doctor but speaking from personal experience). Good news is though antibiotics shouldn’t help and you can get over the counter uti medicine that helps with the discomfort while your waiting for the antibiotics to work. Fair warning though it turns your pee like neon orange.

I'm waiting for the lab results but neon pee sounds so cool I might not go back and do that instead /j

UTI. I had the sensation of eanting to pee all the time even it was just drops of pee. I didnt know till my doctor sent me for blood works for general check up. And he found out I had UTI eithout even know as i always thought it would be burning sensation. Go see a doctor and start drinking juice such as cranberry, pineapple etc.

If you’re not going to get checked out, drink a gallon at least of cranberry juice. See if that stops it. It’s an old remedy and it works if the uti hasn’t gotten too bad.

1
Thu Jan 25 08:07:55 2024 UTC

It needs to be at least 27% cranberry juice iirc. Many cranberry juices don't actually have a lot of cranberry juice in them, so it's always good to check.

I had the constant need to pee, not the blood though. They prescribed two medications, one to relax the muscles up there, another to stop bladder spasms. It’s cleared up since, but, yk.. two more pills for now. They’re going to take a look at my 6mo post in March. It was tested and not a uti.

The blood seems scary. I would definitely reach out to your surgeon if not the ER.

Went to the ER, had blood and urine tests done. Got meds for it. Should I tell my surgeon?

1
Thu Jan 25 19:51:01 2024 UTC

If you tested for a uti it’s a uti. I did not.

Edit: your surgeon should be made aware of everything abnormal going on down there. As a general rule.

Show your surgeon what you are showing us, Please... Because I am 16 weeks postop revision surgery and I am getting the same pink when I pee. But it's not coming from my urethra it's coming vagina after I dilate which my surgeon and her team say is normal. One true way to tell if you have a UTI is if it burns when you pee.
