SRS revision using peritoneal graft on March 27 with Drs. Bluebond-Langner and Zhao.

Edit: I remember how excited I was to have SRS. The day couldn't come fast enough. Now it's like, "Awww, fuck, here we go again. Another surgery."

Congrats to all you girls-in-waiting. May all your dreams come true.

It's done laparoscopically using a robot, so there will be no new major incisions. OTOH, they will keep me in the hospital five days, which is longer than the three days I spent in the hospital for my original SRS.

That's the big question. Why so long in the hospital? Why no clearance for travel until three weeks post-op? That's twice as long as my orginal SRS with McGinn. My guess is that the peritoneal tissue is less tough than skin, and maybe dehiscence is a concern where they stitch the two together.

My only consolation is from emails sent by the clinical coordinator describing the post-op dilation schedule. I asked him if I should bring my own dilators, and he said no, they would give me a new set - and it's the (soulsource) blue, green, and orange ones. I have never used the orange one. It's too big. I said something like "I can't imagine getting that inside me, it's really going to hurt". He replied "Dilation should never be painful." I am thinking, "Really? What planet is this guy from?"

So maybe this is going to be an easier recovery? Going back to multiple dilations a day will suck (I do once a week now) but it's only 15 minutes a session (McGinn specified 30 min). I dunno. My surgery is now June 4th. Stay tuned for updates.

I’m having top surgery (FTM) March 12 with Dr. Lincenberg in Atlanta, GA (USA). Going to be having the ā€œcomma methodā€ as he calls it. I’m a non-binary person who is thin with a small chest (ā€œA-cupā€) but my areolas are too low to be average position for a male. He said this method should be great for me. Love his whole team. Everyone is very nice.

thank you! things have gone smoothly so far <3

and that’s exciting! sending good vibes and keeping my fingers crossed that everything works out!

she was very calm about it all and at the time of my pre-op (3/9) it was very much a business as usual/wait and see approach. i know she was supposed to do some traveling to NY to teach this week and as of last weekend she cancelled. i’m going to see her this thursday at my post op and am actually planning to ask her if she’s continuing surgeries for now (more out of curiosity than anything else)

and the hospital was great. it was in a semi lockdown— visitors could only get in through one entrance where security screened everybody trying to get in. dr bowers patients were in a wing of the hospital that seemed pretty quiet (at least for my time there it seemed that way)

I assume you’ve checked the wiki?

You know if you had surgery the day before you’d need your parents permission? You’re a minor in Thailand until 20.
