I'm planning to get a penile preservation minimal depth labiaplasty (vaginoplasty?)! This is with Wittenberg in the next 6-12 months. Very excited about this!

Wanted to share since a trans friend of mine had no idea this was even a possibility.

OP, you may have just changed my life. I also didn't know this was an option. Thank you.

❤️ I really like Wittenberg and the way she presented all the choices I had.

Most of the examples there are about folks getting a full vaginoplasty while preserving their penises. I've considered that but decided I really just want a shallow one. (just fyi!)

Wittenberg has agreed to do it?

Yes.

Out of curiosity, what objections do you think she would hypothetically have to it? She's really chill about all the different options for nonbinary surgeries and the medical tech is all there.

Also, and this is the most important part, it's what I want! I wouldn't work with a surgeon who has non-technical issues with giving adults the bits they want.

I was only asking to decide if I should add this post to the wiki. If you’d not yet spoken to her I’d leave it out, but I think this is worth including.

OK, understood, thanks!

To be clear about its epistemic status, we've discussed it in a fair bit of detail during my orchi appointments. Wittenberg is onboard with the plan and the formal consult is in February.

I hope you’ll continue to post about it. There’s a fair bit of interest in this kind of thing.

Yes, thank you! I've been surprised at the level of interest as well. I'll keep this subreddit posted.

BTW I think what I'm getting is similar to the "orchiectomy with labia" mentioned on the wiki.

I had full vaginoplasty with Dr. Wittenberg three weeks ago today. Can confirm, she's amazing. I also got to spend some time with someone who had the penile preserving vaginoplasty while I've been in the bay area, everything functions 😉

Awesome!!! Wittenberg is amazing. What sort of minimal depth are you aiming for? Just labia, just a visible opening, or however deep any excess material gets you beyond labia?

Looking at roughly a 2cm depth. Good aesthetics and no dilation required.

This is for me as well, I do have some questions regarding the procedure. Some only the doctor could answer, like what do you do with the bulb? I would like to see photos, after surgery and after its healed. There are only a few photos, out there directly after, nothing of the finished product! Please document your journey for the rest of us, thank you.

Hey. I'm not sure what you mean by "the bulb."

I'm not sure if I'm comfortable sharing photos yet, bit I'll consider it.

Hi, the bulb of penis, or urethral bulb, is the very bottom of the penis. In anatomy photos, it seems to cover the area of the neovagina, yet photos and videos of srs, don't mention it. With minimal depth, it won't be a concern to you.

I'm having trouble finding more information on this procedure.. is it new or just very uncommon? If my insurance would cover it this is something I'd be wanting for sure!

Seems to be pretty uncommon, I haven't found a description of exactly that combination on the Mozaic Care site. But minimal depth SRS and penile preservation vaginoplasties are both done with some regularity, so combining the two is quite possible as well (and is simpler anyway).

Good luck with insurance! I have a very generous plan from my tech employer but I'm still a bit worried about coverage.
