I'm sorry about this. This is the first time I've heard of a complication related to this surgery.

Did you go to Eppley or Rogers?

Is there any hope of fixing this?

Neither. I went to Moser! He uses Roggers method though.

Is there any hope of fixing this?

There is though doctors aren't making it any easier though me.

Thanks. I've never heard of anyone but Eppley and Rogers performing this surgery in the US, and maybe one other doctor in Japan.

I hope you're able to get it repaired.

Are you able to use that arm at all? Does it hurt?

I am able to move my arm, but it does hurt some. On a scale from 1 to 10 I would give the pain a 2.

How can it be fixed?

Cutting of the edges of both ends of the pseudoarthrosis and adding a transplant from the pelvic bone with a new plate on top.

Sorry, that looks like it could be painful.

In your post history I noticed you are transmasc, what compelled you to get clavical shortening?

They have caused me issues before because of their size and I really wanted to get that fixed.

What issues did they cause? Did insurance cover it?

First of all i hope it gets better if you decide to fix it. Can you please tell us how it affects your life?does it make your shoulder look weird?can you atill move perfectly?can someone tell that something is wrong just by looking at you?do your shoulders look like before or they've moved forward? good luck

They don't look weird from the outside at all but moved forward a bit. I can still do move them but have to watch so I don't brake my plates. So no heavy lifting e.g.

After one year would you still say it was worth it?now that you've healed does it make a noticeable difference?

Hello :) it's been two years... did you ever manage to get the pseudoarthrosis fixed? And do you still need to be careful not to break the plates? thank you, I hope you're comfortable in replying

and did you notice any increased forward "slouching" after the surgery as if it was kyphosis?

No heavy lifting like permanently or just during recovery

I have some questions if you don’t mind... Can you never lift weights ever again? I was interested but I’m not sure if it’s just too risky long term is it similar to a hip replacement where it will need to be redone in the future and the hardware replaced? Are you more prone to osteoarthritis in the future?

I’m so sorry. I guess I was lucky and provided the appropriate aftercare and vitamins/ supplements for a good recovery.

Wow I had no idea this was possible.... Is it possible for my rib cage to be shrunk?

No, you can make it shorter , by removing 1-3 lowest pairs, but not narrower. You could get hip implants or a bbl to make it seem smaller, boobs also help with balancing things out. I can't even really think of any hypothetical way to do this (and working on the ribs during surgeries is the only medical thing that makes me wince...)

I assume by the last line you have a medical degree than?

No, I meant seeing this done, not performing it, no no. I can look at any surgery and I'm fine but the moment they bring out a rib spreader I squint

In case of trans girls going through male puberty, do the shoulders always masculinize (widening) ? I don't know if they would be the same if I went directly through a female puberty :(
