I am transitioning from male to female and I am very interested in the iliac-crest-implants-for-aesthetic-widening-of-the-bony-hips. I understand that Korea had something like this, but I always felt the implants were up too high and should be more on the side. And then I haven't heard anything regarding this Korean procedure in a year or so. Then I found Dr. Eply's website. Although he does seem into pushing the envelope doing rib removal and such. I amwondering if there is oanyone out there that has had this surgery?

This is the Korean procedure see how the implants are on the top? womens hips are lower and wider. It seems to me the implants should be more on the side.

This is the Eply implant. See the implants on the sides? this makes more sense to me.

As a physician, I don't think this is a good idea. As a trans woman I understand your goals, but I think this is a surgery that carries unnecessary risks and chances for complications not to mention scarring that you don't want any part of. Best of luck to you, whatever you decide!

/u/dremily1 this is an old thread but can you explain exactly what risks and complications this would carry? To me, a lay person, it looks like all they're doing is putting something on the iliac crest. it doesn't effect any weight bearing elements of the skeleton, it doesn't look like it interfere with movement, there's no risk of rupture or shifting any of the risks associated with the usual silicone implants, so i'm a bit confused as to why you consider this risky.

what is your opinion of the more standard silicone hip implants?

is there any way you could share a private photo or two with me? I'd love to see the results.

I would be very interested to how different the final result would be between trans women and cis women considering our pelvises are structurally different

Yeah but let's assume you're a stock standard trans woman that has small hips. That's the situation that counts .

If you need this surgery and are looking at it you probably aren't in the overlap category.

There are people out there that don't think one NEEDS FFS surgery or breast augmentation or SRS surgery. I don't think its up to you to deside what one NEEDS. The second part of your repsonse is really appreiated.

One of Eply's main interest is custom implants. It's his thing. He takes some serious pride in his implant solutions although I would love to hear from someone who actually went this route. I mean, unless it went bad and they're in a wheelchair or a jetpack.

I spoke to his assistant. He has never performed the illac hip implants, He designed them but hasn't actually done the surgery yet. I was like so, since I would be the first one to do it I might be willing to be his guinea pig for a substantual discount. And of course there was no reply.

I wonder if he puts stuff out there like that to attract the people willing to go to the extreme? I think he likes that reputation. Who knows what he does that no one knows about? Not that it's a bad thing. The girl who had her ribs removed seems perfectly swell. I'm actually surprised he doesn't do a lot of that.

I looked into the rib thing only a little bit just to see what was up.... and the only person I found was that crazy person the human ken doll and his scars looked horrible.

Honestly, I'd trade being in a wheelchair for having an actually not shitty pelvis
