I had my orchiectomy yesterday, at Bellin hospital in Green Bay, WI. This was done via a community care consult from the VA, which is my primary care provider. A recent policy change made coverage of surgical care possible.

I had some soreness in my lower abdomen yesterday, with an occasional bit of nausea (possibly the percoset). I'd expected to wake up in considerable pain, but that didn't happen. What discomfort I had came mostly from the rough gauze-like compression garment rubbing my skin raw. I switched to spandex control panties, and feel much better.

That dark spot between my fingers is the surgical glue.

Congrats! Be sure to keep pressure on it to keep swelling down, that can get painful after a few days.

Yes, that's him.

BTW, my surgery almost got cancelled because of the Covid surge. They asked a lot of questions about my ability to take care of myself. I think they wanted to be sure I wouldn't come back needing a bed.

Pretty much unremarkable. What did surprise me was how little pain I had. I expected to feel like I'd been hit in the crotch with a baseball bat. What I had was soreness in the pelvic area, and a little nausea at first.

Today is three weeks post-op. The scar is still seeping a teensy bit, and I can feel a lump behind the stitches. I suspect it's a blood clot, and it is getting smaller.
