Wow! She looks so nice! Thanks for sharing that 1 year picture. It's nice to see what we can look for!

Amazing!!! I just sent out the application with my Endo for dr. Maude Belanger, really looking forward to it, but I just learned wait times to hear back from the government and get surgery is like a year and a half :(

I've had friends being approved in as little as 4-6 months by OHIP within the last couple of months. It may be way sooner than you think!

Omfg thank you so much for this comment! This makes me happy :) I'm planning on getting a tracheal shave and maybe some ffs at the same time, but idk if they can do all that at once. I think I can get ffs done at any time though

The wait time was about 2-3 months before Covid back in 2016-2017

I sent out my application in February 2021 and had my surgery last September. It happened a lot faster than I expected. They called me in August to discuss a bit then my case was approved by the government within two weeks

Did you get any sort of laser or electrolysis on the area beforehand?

I didn’t (they recommend against it), but I wish I had, I have a few internal hairs

That’s very strange that they recommended against it I’ve never heard of that being done before. I’m at the point where I’m about to start but unsure between laser and electrolysis as I have to fly over to mainland uk to get electrolysis done as nowhere here (Ireland) does genital electrolysis but they do laser.Thank you for the reply :)

Idk what it is about dr Brassard in Montreal but I truly feel like he messes up vaginas on purpose when I look at the pictures here on Reddit all the way do you want to say my friend in Toronto she got hers done by Dr. Brassard and there were no super highly visible scars. Also her vagina wasn’t discoloured or anything like the colour was consistent with a real vagina personally, I wanna wait a few more years before I get mine done and preferably I would get it in the states my friend wants to get it done in Thailand, but I don’t trust these countries because I’ve had bad experiences with ffs in Argentina and Mexico

I’ve also had a bad experience with my voice surgery in the state of New York by Dr. Michael I barely saw any difference by the price for that surgery. Was I think at that time 7000 USD. Idk now I’m really highly sceptical of surgeons operating on trans people I feel like most of them treated and see it as an experiment, as opposed the life-changing surgery it should be.

Warning* I actually spoke to a few people who had the surgery done and I know like some vaginas during the healing process open up and the person just bleeds profusely and I think it’s happening a lot with Dr. Brassard

Oh I also know I post a girl who actually ended up having two holes from dr Brassard and no I’m not even kidding and also I know another girl who had to get two additional revisions from dr Brassard

I spoke to Dr Gosh and Bui-Nguyen about it (biggest hrt providers in Montreal) and they both said how the outcome of the surgery depends on the person, but I don’t think so when a surgeon botches up so many vaginas something is clearly wrong…

GRS Montreal supposedly performs 150 of these surgeries a year so I would assume this to be the reason why there are so many botched up ones

Wow 🤩. I am hesitant between Dr Brassard and Dr Belanger.

based purely on patient interactions (my experiences w/ her versus my roommates interactions with Brassard), i def would not recommend Belanger

physically, i healed fine, i guess. just, if i could do over, id probably go brassard (if not just stay pre-op)

Why?

Why would your recommend brassard over Belanger? From what I've heard Belanger has better bedside manner, and brassard treats it as a bit more of a factory line process since he's been doing it for so long. Also I think Belanger is a bit more open to listening to what sort of features you want, i.e. bigger labia minora or stuff like that

maybe i caught her on a bad day, but i got about 90 seconds pre op w/ her where she asked me to confirm some details (name, surgery, etc), hen bolted (i had almost 10 with the anesthesiologist after) and then about 2 minutes the next morning (id hemoraged over night and needed some gauze sutured) to confirm i wasnt bleeding anymore.

still havent heard if the surgery went well (i assume it did, i asked the nurses in the recovery ward + asclepiade and none gave me an answer)

im 100% of the mind it was cause i went zero depth vaginoplasty, like she couldnt be bothered
