Tracheal shave with Dr. Mardirossian. 2 months post-op. No negative change in voice range and greatly reduced gender dysphoria. Barely noticeable scar.

Hi both of you 😁 Not trying to hijack but I have a consult with Dr. Mardirossian next week for full ffs including trach. Is there anything I should know going in? How is recovery handled? Anything you’re comfortable sharing would just be nice 😊

He is awesome and his staff is great. Just go and tell him exactly what you want out of your results. If something doesn’t sound right ask… I had so many questions and even had patient referrals before I went under the knife. He truly is great and very nice to talk to. He is a huge Star Wars fan too… have him show you his Millenium falcon rug! 😎

For the first week you’ll have to speak on more of a boy register since your neck would be swollen, there would be a scar gel placed on the incision to help with healing, it will fall off sometime near the second- third week. Don’t try to use falsetto for the first month at least just to be on the safe side, be careful when going back to your girl voice since you don’t want to put too much tension on your neck. Overall is a very easy surgery and recovery should not be too painful or crazy for this one procedure, if there is pain you can always call their office and he is available to reach out if any emergency.

Not sure if you were responding to me or the group, but I haven’t been quoted anything yet I just have the initial contact with them next week. I can def check back with rough numbers if they give me anything

What procedures make up a full FFS operation?

Jaw/chin work, nose and forehead. You can also add cheeks and tracheal shave to that.

Dr. Mardirossian is the best you can’t go wrong that man is a consummate professional who will bring his boom box into the operating theater just to enhance the vibes

Not much, just don’t use girl voice first week, slowly go back on your girl register after the first 10 days and don’t use falsetto the first month to be on the safe side. Ice helps with swelling.

How was the recovery? When did your voice sound normal?

I'm getting everything done with Deschamps but I'm super worried about losing range or it getting deeper. My voice is all I have right now and I don't want to lose it.

Anyone know who is the best at tracheal shaves?

My voice started to sound normal by the third week, there was no negative change in range, I would say since now I am more confident it kinda helped my register to be even more feminine if that makes sense. If the surgeon is good, which I heard DB is, he will only remove what’s only biologically possible without damaging your vocal chords. Good luck on your surgery!💕

That's awesome! Really nice to see such a good tracheal shave! There have been a few posts this month of shaves which were not so successful. Which I hate seeing, as I know its something that can really bother people!

It looks like he did more than just reducing larynx cartilage. Was there more?

I’m not sure, I told him to remove everything that was biologically possible without damaging my voice and he sure did.

The before pics was about 13 months on HRT. The other ones I posted from the side were 2 months HRT. They were the only before pics I could find

Is he Otolaryngology trained plastic surgeon or straight plastic surgeon? I don’t think a plastic surgery trained plastic surgeon could be this thorough….and just looked and turns out he is Otolaryngology trained head and neck surgeon.

GOOD for YOU!!! For some reason, I couldn't seem to access the photo...at first. Looks like a VERY acceptable result. I've been on HRT for 16 months...and appreciated the gradual changes.
