You can see the difference in PH by looking at the color on the strip. The Color to the right was mesured at the tip of the dilator. The more green color to the left was mesured on the middle of the dilator.

Even though it's both mesured by the rubbing the PH paper in the neutral lube, the difference at the deepest part of the vagina is huge! (The deepest part is where my mucosal urethral tissue and tunica vaginalis is placed. The "skin" part of the vagina doesn't have any noticable PH changes yet)

I am also able to go without dousching inside and there is no wierd smells or anything.

Before I started probiotics there was no difference in PH levels. I hope the bacteria stays after I stop taking them!

Dr McGinn is actually currently running a research study on good clean love lube and suppositories that has the aim of both reducing the pH to cis levels and also to colonize the vagina with the beneficial bacteria (I am in the study myself).

I guess it'd probably be pretty cool if I bought some pH strips

How are you mesuring your PH?

My mesurements might be getting diluted by high PH lube because I do them while dilating. It's hard getting mesurements without a dilator, and no way I can get it in without lube.

i use measurement strips from when i come home from work, BEFORE i dilate. i use a cotton swab to get some moisture from as deep as i can reach

seems to work well, and avoids contamination from lube

Can you list what you are using please ?

I have tried a similar test with pH4 lubrication etc. Still trying to make a determination about the success.

I'm using ...

Yes WB PH4 Water based lubricant. Litmus strips from Amazon, not sure how accurate. BV treatment gel BV treatment pessaries

I'm collating my results and will post them, very interested in yours as well obviously x

***Edit

I will add here, mine smells awfull if I don't douche. Simple PI Vaginoplasty.

I'm using water based lubricant called QC. It has a PH closer to 7 like water. Universal PH strips and a probiotic cream that I got from local pharmacy, ment for vaginas and containing some strains of lactobacteria

So I haven’t had my surgery yet, but if you don’t do this are you supposed to routinely douche?

Not for sure. It also seems possible that a biome can develop naturally over a longer period of time. And the biggest reasons for smell is that bad bacteria is fermenting material that isn't cleaned out, like shedded skincells, blood, etc.

I personally think that taking probiotics can help reduce the risk of bad smells, and that unwelcome bacteria has a harder time developing there. But you might be just fine without taking them.

ummm after being on HRT for almost a year I started getting smells down there. I tried to change diet, changed body wash and lotion. No STD or sickness. I'm pre op so I'm going try probiotics and see if it helps.

What Does it actually give you? To keep some wetness in vaginal canal or remove the smell?

I started to notice some smell after I stopped dousching with betadine and only water.

Now I don't need to dousche at all and it cleans itself. Nothing is smelly. This is the main thing.

The bacteria does not make it more moist. Moisture is what allows the bacteria to thrive there.

I thought maybe it turn tunica/peritoneal flap more into natal vaginal functioning, like self lubrication or something like that

Maybe a bit? Idk. But I think having the tunica and stuff to make moisture in the first place is what allows the biome to thrive in there

I have a feeling maybe it can a bit, too.i would try it as well

This is fascinating. I stopped douching completely and for a few weeks smell was an issue, but it's not anymore. I'd be curious to see what my pH is 🤔

Boric acid tablets work in one day or less and instantly gets rude of any smells that are unpleasant.

I just had my surgery 3 weeks ago and I’m curious about this. I opted for a shallow depth procedure, which I assume shouldn’t affect this one way or the other? Right?

I think that having mucosal membranes inside definetely helps the process. But it is probably possible to some extent without them. Depth isn't a big factor I think. You can try and see if it works once you have healed!

Yeah I guess I should do some research and ask my doctor what tissues they used to construct my canal.
