I've been meaning to do this for a while! I went to Buenos Aires and had surgery on 26/10/22. It's been great!

So! I'd settled on T Change because they had both a low price, good reviews and did the hair implants (though it's not simultaneously as FT do it). I'd been to Buenos Aires before for work and really liked it and the little bit of Argentina I saw beyond it. T Change is cheap, such that I'd be sceptical if I hadn't encountered the exchange rate before. Argentina is a well functioning country, but it's still in a strange financial situation from previous defaults/IMF stuff, so the pound is very strong there, but the dollar is even stronger! People save in dollars because they don't trust the peso. These factors are one of the reasons it's cheap, the other is that T Change has low overheads. Amanda was a production assistant for film and TV who realised she could project manage FFS services for other trans women after finding all the stuff for herself in the noughties. So T Change don't have their own clinic or accommodation, tests are done at a local private doctors surgery, surgery in the city hospital, hair at a private hair clinic and Amanda diligently checks in on everyone in their accommodation. So it's a minimalist service, but a good one! I looked at a lot of Rossi's reviews and they were all good except for one patient who complained about everyone they saw (they'd been to Cardenas before Rossi and then FT afterwards, and attacked all three), some people didn't like his bedside manner, but even they still loved the results. His before and afters always looked harmonious change, and often looked like siblings (the before and afters, not the different reviews!) That's really what I was looking for, to still look like me, just without the testosterone detour!

I flew out from Edinburgh, Saturday the 22nd via Frankfurt and arrived early Sunday the 23rd, it's a long flight! Amanda met me at the airport even though it was 06.00 on a Sunday! (I really expected she'd just sort a car and meet me later). She's, I think, in her 50s having been a late 30s crack, and she's lovely, you'll see her mentioned in a lot of the reviews for good reason. We went to the Airbnb I had changed some of the dollars for me and I was free until 17.30 the next day. I'd gone for an Airbnb over a hotel so I had better space for the 20 day stay, and of course it was cheaper. I had a bit of a look around Palermo (the bit of BA T Change is in) on the Monday, I did look at exploring more, but BA is a massive city centre the main sites were 2 hours walkaway and I didn't want to be dependent on taxis before my apt. Monday's apt was to meet Dr Rossi, Amanda picked me up and another woman who was two weeks ahead of me. She looked great! Rossi came over well, typical surgeon confidence, but good social skills too. His position is to step back the testosterone effects rather than pick a look to aim for, so the apt was about explaining the sequence, timings, how the care would work and answering questions. It was very reassuring. The next day was blood test, x rays and ECG at a nearby clinic. These were in the morning so I got to go out and see some of the city afterwards.

Amanda picked me up at 10.30 and we went to the hospital, got booked in, signed the waivers and stuff, then I was shown to the hospital room. I had an emotional breakdown at that point, the fear, the anticipation, and Amanda was great in helping me. I changed to the gown, slippers and hair net ready. It's a hospital so they wheel you everywhere, though in a chair at this stage, which felt slightly better than in a bed as I was when I had my tonsils out in Livingston! The only daunting thing about this though, is that it means you enter the theatre yourself and need to climb onto the table, rather than being anesthetised before had. That was the most daunting thing, but the surgery team were nice and friendly, the assistant surgeon was telling me how much he liked Edinburgh, then the last thing I remember was the gas mask.

I was brought round in the theatre as planned, everything was fine, but the trip back to the room was hazy! I didn't have any pain, and as I became more aware I was relieved I could breath through my nose, in fact, though I hadn't felt particularly stuffy in life I'm sure it felt, and continues to do so, clearer than normal! T Change has two English speaking carers Ines and I've forgotten the second person's name (both Portuguese!) who then stay with you through the first night. It's was OK, a bit awkward sleeping elevated, and with like a foam helmet, but I still didn't have any pain. In the morning the surgeon came for the cinematic unwinding of the bandages! Already I felt good despite the swelling. I had staples along the cut line (which for me were the most offputting bit of the recovery, just their metalliness!) and a cast on the bridge of the nose. Rossi's position is actually to wash your hair in the interests of healing and cleanliness of the cut line, but you have to kiwi the nose cast dry, which is a bit tricky! Over the week I got most swollen and bruised about day 3 to 4. Two black eyes, and even though I didn't have jaw work done the swelling reached all the way down by left cheek.

I went for the hair implants 7 days later, at a nice clinic nearby that does all sorts of cosmetic hair work too. I'd had an apt the day before to have everything explained. It was hospital robes again, and you start off face down on a massage table for the collection of the follicles. They shave a collection area, but it's was small enough that my hair hide it, then local anaesthetic and they offer a sedation tablet because it's like 2 hours for collection. The only surprise was the collection tool sounds like a dremel! But there was no discomfort and I fell asleep. I was woken up to roll over then for implantation this was something like another two hours, there was a music channel up on a TV in sight as a distraction, but again a local anaesthetic and no pain. After it was done they provided lunch and Amanda picked me up again to go back to the flat. This felt a bit more precarious because you've got to avoid anything touching it, but as mentioned on this server, it is something of an (understandable) precaution, and the implants to settle in pretty quickly. At day three you start to gently wash the area with a shaving brush and baby shampoo the clinic provide. At day 5 you wash it a bit more intensely, and you can shower your hair by bending forward so the shower only hits the back of your head and the water trickles over the implant sight. The scabs have to be left to gently wash away with the daily washes so there's no force on the follicles, it all seems to have gone to plan. Some implanted hairs still haven't fallen out, but the ones that have are starting to grow already

Actually during the hair recovery I saw Rossi for the follow up, I met another patient a 19 year old from Poland there for a last check before flight. She was 7 days ahead of me and she looked great, her bruising had already gone, and not having the hair implant recovery she really looked all better! The hair clinic had taken out the staples in their way and now Rossi took the remaining ones, and I didn't feel a thing! This was day 8 and when the nose cast was removed. It was an amazing moment, probably the biggest unveiling of the trip! The swelling was down and even though the cast was small it inevitably hid the lines of the results. Seven days after the hair process my fringe could come down again, which felt so good! (even though I couldn't wash it properly still!) Then the following day I flew out I had brow reduction, rhinoplasty, tracheal shave and the hair implants, it all went smoothly, and only pain of the trip was when I got indigestion from one of the restaurants I went to near the end!

I am yes! And it's kept getting better. I knew swelling would take months, but once the bruises were away I did kinda think that was it. But it got better throughout the year! I can't seem to add a picture to a reply, I'll go look if there's a way

Thank you, this was very informative. You mention the price - would you mind mentioning a ballpark figure? I'm trying to decide between Cardenas and Rossi at the moment, and only the former has prices on their website (as far as I can see).

This is their kind of standard reply, and despite some of the phrasing here they never tried to upsell anything, which was good to see. As you will see it's very cost effective, even though I believe they have gone up by 10% since mine

Medical package for full facial feminization surgery

Forehead reconstruction with setback of the anterior wall of the frontal sinus (AKA type 3)

Orbital rims reshaping (shaving of the front to make them thinner and of the underside to open up the gaze)

Brow lift (to make them match the new forehead shape) (*)

Feminizing rhinoplasty  (to make the nose smaller overall, thinner when seen from the front; to leave the bridge shorter and straight or slightly concave instead of convex when seen from profile, and to give the tip more definition and a subtle upturn)

Upper lip lift (to reduce the height between the nose and the vermilion of the lip) (*)

Medical fees and costs including general anesthesia and 1 night hospitalization in private room

Bedside bilingual sitters in the hospital for you to better communicate with the nurses.

Daily visits to your hotel or apartment after the surgery

All medical appointments and checkups.

Pre surgical tests and x-rays

Standard post-op medication

Bilingual assistant + transportation for your arrival/departure and every medical event

Free cellphone for you to be in touch with us 24/7

TOTAL: USD 10,000

Optional recommended procedures that can be performed in the same surgery:

Jaw feminization (tapering of the jaw angles): USD 3,000

Trachea shave: USD 1,800

Hair transplants to fill in and round out the receded corners of the hairline, with FUE technique, performed one week after FFS: USD 3,000

Hi, sorry to ask questions on such an old post but at the moment I’m scouring the internet for information about Dr Rossi.

If you don’t mind me asking, how much did flights and accommodation cost you? I’m living in NI so hopefully they’d be priced similarly to flights from Scotland. It’s just I’m on a bit of a budget so I’m trying to work out whether Rossi or Cardenas are cheaper.

Also you wouldn’t happen to know what the deal is with his free consultations? Getting a free consultation sounds too good to be true when other surgeons charge up to £200 for one, but if it is true that would be really great as I’m not completely sure what I want yet.

im having surgery with rossi in about a month. ive booked an airbnb for 1600AUD but there's definitely places for a bit cheaper. i dont think free consultations are that uncommon. prior to tchange i had a free consult with facialteam.
