I marked this as spoiler as the surgery pics are a bit to graphic.

Hey all! I had my FFS with doctor Rossi in Argentina 6 months ago. The procedures I had were: - Type 3 forehead reconstruction - Orbital rim shave - Chin reduction - Jaw reduction - forehead reduction - Trachea shave - upper-lip lipofilling - Hair transplants

In total I paid 14.800$ excluding lodging and food.

how did your surgeon acheive that great post jawline by only reducing chin and jaw?? in the before picture it looks like you have a recessed chin (like myself) and the after is snatched, gurllll! what added the chin projection somehow?!

OP

I had a nice jawline before aswell, just not as smooth. The before picture is a little off throwing, because the angle is a bit weird :D

do u have a regular picture of jawline before that exanples what youre sayint? that is so strange, youre right it is totally an optical illusion then cuz both look to be at presicely the same angle too 🙀 how peculiar

I love the diagrams of this shit. They look like shit posts. Just like..

"Here's ya face"

"Now we just peel it off yer fawkin' skull loike a fruit roll-up off th' plastic.."

"Heheh...silly happy skull. Just chizel that bit off, shave that down.."

"Aight, roll 'er back on! Couple stiches.."

"Good as new! ...Nah nah we ain't no cannibals we jus' doin' surgery here!"

I really want to get FFS at some point, but I'm worried I would feel disturbed knowing what they did.

Did you feel disturbed at all or are you glad that you went through with it?

That price is really cheap. Facial Team quote I got was up past 30k usd (45-50k aud) for not even a half of whats listed.

This really makes me wonder. I'll be spending every last cent thanks to the aud exchange rate. Might if it's worth having a chat with Rossi.

One of the big reason why I wanted to stick with facial team was the simultaneous hair transplant. Seemed like good way to get it all done at once. But kind of at the point where I'm struggling to justify the increased costs.

Really just enforces how expensive being trans* really is. 5 years of saving in my position. Not of it's easy to do alone. Just wish medicare (aus) cover things and I'd just get it done locally and chase up the rest.

OP

I can only recommend t-change, they're very professional and the procedures are as good as they get. They don't do the simultaneous hair transplants, but I got them two weeks after in a hair clinic :)

Facial team is great but I talked to a woman who had surgery with them in 2015 or 2016 and their prizes were a lot lower during that time. On the same level as 2 pass clinic or even slightly lower.

Still worth it if you can afford it though

9

That's more of an optical illusion (because of the angle the picture was taken in) combined with the raising of the chin

We keep it real here. Everyone should be aware of what they are getting themselves into. These are surgery decisions that are difficult, if not impossible, to walk back. No one should be making this journey unless they are fully prepared and informed. That includes a solid understanding of available surgery procedures.

Yess I love the pictures as well :)) I might do a new timeline at some point, but till then, most pictures I have posted on Reddit are post-surgery :) The swelling is almost completely gone, since the surgery took place about 6 months ago, only my chin is still a little swollen, but that can take up to a year to fully go away.

2
OP
Mon Dec 26 09:57:00 2022 UTC

Haha I might :D

Actually It wasn't at all, only when touching the skull hurt a little. And now, 6 months later, only the screws hurt sometimes in extreme cold or harsh weather changes :)

2
Mon Dec 26 10:30:42 2022 UTC
(3 children)

You was awake when they did the surgery ?? Oh, you'll ring at the airports haha

You think the pain with weather changes is definitive ?

3
OP
Mon Dec 26 10:45:28 2022 UTC
(2 children)

Haha no, I meant after the surgery :D The screws are non-magnetic so sadly I won't ring at the airport :<

Probably, I've talked to other people with surgery scars and metal in their bodies, it seems to stay, but the pain isn't that bad :)

2
Mon Dec 26 11:48:25 2022 UTC
(1 child)

Phew ! So in what material is it ? You should try metal detectors, like those ones people use on the beach, I tried on my back, it was reaaaally fun to ring (I don't either ring at the airport btw, but I've got metal)

Alright, that's the main thing if it's not too much painful :) Btw, I forgot to tell you that your FFS results are really beautiful :)

4
Mon Dec 26 08:39:37 2022 UTC

That's the difference between type 1 and type 3 reconstruction. If your sinus isn't thick enough to shave the top layer of bone off without creating an opening they take it out and grind it down from multiple angles to reduce its projection

I'm sorry to hear that, but let me assure you, the surgery was barely painful and recovery wasn't too bad either:)

What made you decide to go to Rossi, instead of staying local? And did you have insurance that would cover FFS in the states?

I had FFS three weeks ago. It is interesting to see what they did to me. I have to admit I have been curious to see what it would have looked like. Right now it feels like my forehead is too small for my skull. How long did that feeling last for you?

Probably 4-5 weeks, afterwards the feeling in the forehead starts returning and it feels less stretched :)

Why the Eff do they have to tear apart the scalp, cant they just go in from the side with a rasping file and file down thru a small incision? Seems overkill and too invasive.

Coronal incision (mid scalp ear to ear) and the "open" approach seems extreme but it preserves nerve function better, hides the scar within the hairline, and is a better aesthetic option for those who don't need a hairline advancement (since this approach often raises the hairline just a smidge). And the brow bone can't just be filed in 99 pct of cases. It has to be cut out, reshaped and put back in. And this usually comes alongside filing down the orbital rims too. Open approach is gruesome, efficient, effective, and safe.

It's insane how it works, but I had this done to me in September and am happy with the results.
